Volunteer

With the support of volunteers, Louisville Rescue Mission is making life-changing impact on our guests.
Making an impact on homelessness requires a team of loving, compassionate people. Thankfully, this means that we have a variety of avenues through which volunteers can serve.
Help Run the Day Shelter
  • You can tangibly love the guests of our day shelter by greeting them upon arrival, registering them through our electronic system, checking their mail, distributing towels and personal toiletries, helping manage the laundry room, and checking bags in and out. If you're new to volunteering, this is a great place to start! You'll quickly learn names and faces and begin building gospel-centered relationships with our guests.
  • Opportunities: Volunteers welcome weekdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. (men and women) and/or 1 to 3 p.m. (women only)
  • Volunteer Commitment: At least one shift per month
Lead a Building Project
  • You can serve in a variety of capacities around the Mission. Projects may include cleaning to ensure our building is a welcoming space for our guests, organizing donated supplies, helping with gardening and grounds maintenance, and even doing construction.
  • Opportunities: Volunteers welcome on a variety of days and times
  • Volunteer Commitment: No long-term commitment required
Lead a Chapel Service
  • This is a great opportunity for men who desire to preach the gospel to our guests or for musicians who would like to lead our guests in worship.
  • Opportunities: Volunteers welcome weekdays from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and every day from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Volunteer Commitment: At least one shift per month
Prepare a Meal
  • We love welcoming individuals, families, and groups that are willing to serve a meal to our guests. Please click here to learn more about this opportunity.
